Why House Removals Are So Stressful

Moving house can be a really stressful event. From packing to unpacking, it’s something none of us really look forward to doing. But why are house removals so stressful?

Firstly, there is so much to plan when you move house, it’s not just a simple case of packing up and leaving, those important details really add up and create a huge to do list of worry. There’s finding the right removal company or man with a van for you that can take a while – groundwork and vast research are both key components to choosing the correct firm for you. Or it might be that you decide to do a DIY job. Both hiring and doing-it-yourself can be equally time-consuming. The good thing about hiring help is that a lot of the hard work is done for you, so some people may choose this to help ease off the pressure a bit from their removal.

Once you have decided whether you are hiring help or going it alone, there’s the de-cluttering and sorting to do. Some people might not have that much stuff in comparison to someone else, but no matter how many goods you have to move, sorting them out and having a clear-out can be a stressful job we all like to put off from time to time. Basically the more rooms you have, the more stuff you are probably likely to hold. Having a clear out is very beneficial for both space and the mind, but just seems to take forever. Luckily there are plenty of ways to have a clear out and methods to try, however this doesn’t take away from the fact it’s a big job in itself.

Next, it’s the packing. Packing sometimes seems to take forever. You might start pack king up a box or a case then have to unpack it and start again. This can feel like an endless cycle! From collecting the right boxes and containers to hold your goods, to physically packing them up, this is a job many people try to avoid. Again, luckily there are a lot of company that now offer a packing service as an add-on or even included in the price so it is worth shopping around and seeing what the best deals are.

Loading and unloading can be very tiresome and physically exhausting. Lifting and moving heavy goods can take time and strain you. It’s always best to follow professional health and safety procedures but of course, this doesn’t always make it easier. Some people might choose hire help for this part. It makes sense especially if you have very heavy furniture to move – but even the thought of moving a set of sofas to a new location can feel very overwhelming!

All in all, house removals in particular can be very stressful and exhausting because there is so much to do. The amount of planning and organisation that goes into a house move takes a lot of time and effort. It can also be a stressful time due to lack of time – with our busy day to day schedules, it can be difficult to even fit a removal date in and of course, they can be very expensive depending on how you do it. But through careful planning and research, house removals can be a lot less stressful and daunting than you may think.
